Khulna Titans spinner Taijul Islam praised their bowling unit for securing a crucial win against Rajshahi Kings on a turning wicket at Sylhet International stadium and said the team is determined to perform better to seal a top four spot.
Khulna successfully defended 128 runs and Taijul produced a magnificent performance with the ball as the left-hander took three wickets conceding just 10 runs and was adjudged man-of-the-match. Captain Mahmudullah also bowled well as he took two wickets conceding 10 runs while pacer Junaid Khan picked three scalps.
“When our batsmen were batting, they realized that batting is not easy in this wicket. There was good turn on the pitch. There was bounce along with spin. That’s why batsmen were unable to connect with the ball properly. We knew the second innings batting would be more difficult. So, we had a target of scoring as many runs as possible on the board. Our bowlers bowled according to plan in this wicket,” Taijul said to the media during the post-match press-conference in Sylhet on yesterday.

Khulna were under pressure as they lost their first four matches. But Taijul believes the team can turn things around and qualify for the play-offs.
“Competitive cricket is always about pressure. We lost four matches, so we were on the back foot naturally. But our team management and officials gave us support and inspired us. The teammates were also supportive towards each other. We had the belief that we can start winning here. And in the end it’s a good win for us.”
“Still we have seven games in our hand. We will have a chance to play in the top four if we can manage to win four-five matches among those. It’s not impossible in the T20 format. At the moment we are playing with an aim to qualify for the top four,” Taijul concluded.
