Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz has been appointed the Rajshahi Kings captain, ahead of the sixth edition of the BPL.

The 21-year old performed well with the ball for Bangladesh last year, bagging 41 wickets in 14 Test innings, 18 wickets in 15 ODIs, and two wickets in 10 T20Is.

Soumya Sarkar will act as Miraz’s deputy while former South African all-rounder Lance Klusener will be at the helm of the Kings as the mentor.

This is Miraz’s third season with the Kings.

In his previous two seasons, Rajshahi finished as the runners up in 2016, and sixth in 2017.

“This is my third season at the Kings. I’m happy to be here. I’m proud to be the captain. Hopefully I will be able to fulfill the expectations of the owners and the team management. We will try to be the champion exhibiting team performance,” said Miraz to the media Thursday.

The Kings have some exciting foreign and local players in their squad.

Among the foreign cricketers include Qais Ahmad, Christiaan Jonker, Isuru Udana, Laurie Evans, Ryan ten Doeschate, Seekkuge Prasanna and Mohammad Hafeez.

Mominul Haque and Mustafizur Rahman, among others, headline the list of local players.
