An unbeaten 70 from Yasir Ali was the pick of the performances on the day as East Zone scored 204/4 at the Shaheed Chandu stadium in Bogra.
East Zone started the day with a 75-run opening partnership as Imrul Kayes and Rony Talukdar batted with solidity for 20.1 overs.
The first batsman to be dismissed was Imrul for 37 off the bowling of in-form Mahedi Hasan. Captain Mominul Haque, who has also been in excellent form was the next to depart having scored only three runs, being dismissed by the same bowler.
South Zone were well and truly on top when they took another wicket, that of opener Rony Talukadar for 40 when veteran off-spinner Abdur Razzak struck with the score at 85/3.
From there, Mohammad Ashraful and Yasir Ali formed a 103-run partnership before Ashraful was dismissed for 37, bowled by fast bowler Al-Amin Hossain.
Yasir was then joined by Mahmudul Hasan and they both saw off the day without any further loss of wickets at 204/4. 67 overs were managed in the day as wet outfield played spoilsport.
