Shakib was retained by the defending champion for $1,10,000 (approximately Tk88 lakhs, 27 thousand and 500).
Shakib is the only Bangladesh representative to get a spot in one of the six teams. Around 258 cricketers from around the world were named in the draft this year among which six CPL franchises picked a total of 103 players.
Each of the franchises were given a ceiling of $750,000, including the expense of the players they have retained in the draft. The CPL governing body had also made it compulsory for the teams to have a young West Indian emerging player and a representative from the ICC Americas in their squad.
Notable purchases include Australia all-rounder Ben Cutting, recruited by St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots, while Marlon Samuels joined the St. Lucia Stars. This will be the first time in the history of the tournament that Afghanistan cricketers will feature as Mohammad Nabi went to St. Kitts and leg-spinner Rashid Khan got bagged by Guyana Amazon Warriors.
The Afghan duo earlier made the headlines after getting teams in the upcoming IPL T20.
