Opener Shai Hope played a superb unbeaten 146-run innings to chase down the target for West Indies. But at one stage, West Indies were under pressure as they lost some crucial wickets in the middle. But all-rounder Keemo Paul gave good support to Hope and formed a 71-run partnership to clinch the win for Windies.
Paul was lucky twice in his innings of 18 runs off 31 balls as his catch was dropped twice. Both times, the fielder was substitute fielder Nazmul Islam Apu. Nazmul was fielding for Imrul Kayes who was injured while attempting to take a catch of Shimron Hetmyer in the 31st over. Imrul dropped the catch and limped off as the ball hit his chest.
However, two dropped catches by Nazmul proved costly for Bangladesh. The first catch was dropped in 44th over (charging in front from deep square-leg and dropping it after a diving attempt) and the second catch was dropped on 48th over (missing the ball completely and reacting late at deep square-leg).
If one of those catches could have taken, then the result could have be in Tigers’ favor as the remaining West Indies batsmen were all tail-enders Kemar Roach, Devendra Bishoo and Oshane Thomas.
