Butter fingers

The saga of the dropped catches started with Darren Bravo, who was dropped twice before he added 19 on the board

The West Indies struggled their way to 195 runs but could have been in further trouble if the Bangladesh fielders had not dropped four catches in the first ODI at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Sunday.

The saga of the dropped catches started with Darren Bravo, who was dropped twice before he added 19 on the board.

First, it was substitute fielder Ariful Haque who grassed the ball at backward point off Mustafizur Rahman.

The next opportunity came when Bravo was on 18.

The diving wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim couldn’t hold onto the ball that was travelling away.

The catch of Rovman Powell, batting on seven, was then spilled by Rubel Hossain at mid-off as it went to the boundary.

The catch of Marlon Samuels however, was a tough one.

Batting on six, Samuels triggered off for a boundary over mid-wicket but low elevation saw the ball travel over Mahmudullah, who had put his fingers on it, but was not able to grab the ball.
