Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan played a good innings and remained not out at stumps of day one. The left-hander was unbeaten on 55 off 113 balls with just one boundary.
Shakib came out to bat in a crucial moment for Bangladesh, and batted till the remainder of the day.
But he survived two close calls during his stay at the crease. First in the 62nd over, Kemar Roach dived forward to take a caught and bowled opportunity. It looked like a brilliant catch by the West Indies fast bowler and the reluctant signal from the on-field umpire Aleem Dar was out. But the umpires eventually referred it to the third umpire, and the replays showed the ball clearly landed in front of Roach before he grabbed it.

The second incident happened in the last ball of the 75th over. Shakib missed a relatively straight delivery off Roston Chase. The umpire turned down the appeal. The Windies camp hesitated to take the review and eventually did not opt for it. Later, TV replays showed the ball would have hit the leg-stump and the decision could have been overturned if the visiting side had taken the review.
Lucky escapes for Shakib in the end.
