Bangladesh’s record breaking off-spinner Nayeem Hasan informed that he did not feel that much pressure while starting his international career at such a young age.
Nayeem’s five for 61 agianst the West Indies during their first Test match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium was a record.
He became the youngest bowler in Test history to take a five-wicket haul on debut.
Nayeem’s official age is 17 years and 355 days and he broke the record by leapfrogging Australia pacer Pat Cummins.
Cummins took six wickets on his debut against South Africa in 2011 when his age was 18 years and 93 days.
Young off-spinner Nayeem Hasan believes a target of 150 could be a difficult for the West Indies in the fourth innings if @BCBtigers can bowl in good areas while defending their total.https://t.co/CA7Lh5XZl9#BCBTIGERS #BCB #TIGERS #BANGLADESHCRICKET #CRICKET #BANGLADESH #NAYEEM

“I did not feel that much pressure. I played my normal cricket. I had no specific target like a five-wicket haul in an innings or ten wickets in a match prior to the game. I just played my natural game. Our senior players are very helpful. That also helped,” said Nayeem during the post-day press conference.
When asked about his idol or if he follows anyone in international cricket, the youngster answered, “I follow Nathan Lyon.”
Aussie spinner Lyon took 13 wickets against host Bangladesh at this ground, ZACS, in 2017 and helped Australia to level the two-Test series 1-1.
Lyon also took nine wickets in the first Test at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, meaning his total wickets tally was 22 in that two-match series.
