Prime Bank South Zone batters Shahriar Nafees and Fazle Mahmud registered half-centuries while veteran Walton Central Zone spinner Mosharraf Hossain picked up four wickets in the first round of the Bangladesh Cricket League at stumps on day two on Thursday.
Fazle and Shahriar registered half-centuries but the effort fell short by just one run of South Zone’s total in the first innings.
Left-arm spinner Mosharraf bagged four scalps as South Zone scored 281 in reply to Central Zone’s 282.
The game resumed on day two with South Zone batting on 29 for no loss with Shahriar and Anamul Haque on 15 and nine respectively.
Shahriar took his score to 71 before being dismissed, but Fazle was unfortunate to fall six short of his eighth first-class hundred.
Batting on 94, Fazle perished against pacer Robiul Haque.
Wrapping up South Zone’s innings, Central Zone got only two overs to bat in the day and put two runs on the board, finishing the day with a three-run lead.
