Bangladesh team lost six points in the ICC Test Team Rankings after drawing the two-match home series against Zimbabwe 1-1, but some of the Bangladeshi players improved their individual rankings.

According to an ICC press release, which was circulated on Tuesday, Bangladesh lost six points and their points were reduced to 61. However, the Tigers kept their ninth position in the table. On the other hand, Zimbabwe, the tenth ranked side, which had only two points, added 11 points after this series.

Despite the disappointing result in the team’s ranking, Mushfiqur Rahim made a big leap in the batting ranking as he reached the no 18 spot, his highest ever position since he made his debut back in 2005.

The wicketkeeper-batsman’s 219 not out in the first innings has given him a rise of five places, which has helped him improve on his previous highest ranking of 21, which he had achieved in July 2017.

Mahmudullah, the stand-in captain for the Zimbabwe series also improved his ranking as his second Test century in the second Test saw him leapfrog to 57 from 76.

Bowlers made some positive jumps as well. The spin duo of Taijul Islam and Mehedi Hasan, who took the bulk of the wickets, were the biggest movers.

Taijul, who got 18 wickets in the series, reached his career best point and ranking as he earned three points to take his tally to 595 and positioned himself on 27. Mehedi, who got a five-for in the Dhaka Test, improved seven spots to be positioned on 28 with 580 points, the highest in career till date.

Meanwhile Shakib Al Hasan, who missed the series due to injury, lost three positions but kept the best ranking among Bangladeshi bowlers in the no 21 position with 652 points.

Shakib however, lost the top spot among Bangladeshi batsmen as he descended four positions to be placed at 24. The left-handed all-rounder kept the top position in the ICC ranking of all-rounders with 403 points. India’s Ravindra Jadeja is in second spot with exactly 400 points.

Jadeja’s compatriot and skipper Virat Kohli is leading the batting rankings with 935 points while England pacer James Anderson is leading the bowling rankings with 883 points, just a point above South African pacer Kagiso Rabada.

In the team’s rankings, England ensure their second spot as they sealed the three-match series against Sri Lanka by winning the first two matches. Irrespective of the final match result, England will surpass South Africa, who have 107 points currently, to take the second position after the conclusion of ongoing series. India top the list with 116 points.
