Bangladesh now shift focus to WI

Bangladesh stand-in Test captain Mahmudullah admitted the West Indies’ gathering of experience in India will definitely help them, but he believes despite that, Bangladesh will be favourite in the series

Bangladesh national cricket team will now shift their focus to the home series against the West Indies having completed the month-long series against Zimbabwe.

The Bangladesh-West Indies series will commence with the first Test in Chittagong next Thursday.

Bangladesh’s concern going into the series should be of the Windies team having just toured India.

The Caribbean side had reached India in late September and played two Test matches, five ODIs and three T20Is.

The Islanders won only one game in their tour of India, in the third ODI, but have been boosted with the experience of the subcontinent conditions, and that can work against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh stand-in Test captain Mahmudullah admitted the West Indies’ gathering of experience in India will definitely help them, but he believes despite that, Bangladesh will be favourite in the series.

“They will be definitely helped having just toured India but the conditions in Bangladesh are different. The results might come to our favour if we take proper and typical home advantage. The main fact should be how good we perform on the field. They are a very good team and we should be ready both mentally and physically to play some good competition,” said Mahmudullah to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Thursday after the conclusion of the second and final Test against Zimbabwe.

The West Indies in their month-long tour will play two Tests, three ODIs and as many T20Is against host Bangladesh.
