Bangladesh women’s cricket team made a losing start at the World T20I as they suffered a 60-run defeat at the hands of the host West Indies at Providence Stadium in Guyana Friday.
Asked to bat first, the Windies posted 106 losing eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, wicketkeeper-batter Kycia Knight top-scoring for her side with a 24-ball 32.
The Bangladesh bowlers put in a disciplined performance, seamer Jahanara Alam leading the way with three wickets conceding 23 runs in her quota of four overs.
Leg-spinner Rumana Ahmed bagged two wickets giving away 16 runs in four overs, while captain Salma Khatun and off-spinner Khadija-tul Kubra took one apiece.

In reply however, Bangladesh were skittled out for 46 in 14.4 overs as none of the batters reached double digit.
Seamer Deandra Dottin caused most of the damage with five wickets, while medium-pacer Shakera Selman notched two.
Bangladesh will now face England in their next Group A match in Gros Islet Tuesday.
