Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal will undergo a three-week rehabilitation programme before he can resume training.
Bangladesh Cricket Board chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury informed this to the media at the BCB premise in Mirpur on Wednesday .
"Tamim visited a hand-surgeon in Southampton, England recently. We have prepared his rehab plan. BCB’s physios are working on the rehab process. We have plans to continue the rehab process for three more weeks. We will assess his condition on October 25 again. If we see that he gained his functionality on the injured hand then we may advise him to start his cricket activities. After three weeks, if we see that the improvement is not on a satisfactory level then we have to reassess his injury again. So Tamim needs at least three more weeks to complete the primary rehab process of his injury," said Dr Debashish.

The left-handed batsman picked up an injury on his left index finger during the Asia Cup tournament opener against Sri Lanka last month. He initially left the field after being struck by a bouncer from seamer Suranga Lakmal but returned to bat in what turned out to be a bold move.
Tamim had to face just one ball, the last delivery of the 47th over, resuming as the No 11 but his contribution was immense as his bravery allowed wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, who single-handedly carried the innings to finish with a belligerent 144-run knock that enabled the Tigers to post a respectable total of 261 on the board.
