Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal returned to Dhaka Sunday after visiting the doctor in England.
Tamim flew to London Thursday for the treatment of his injured left index finger. He went to Southampton to find out if surgery is required on his injured hand. After assessing his injured hand, the doctor informed no surgery is required at the moment.
“Doctors informed that no further treatment is required right now. It may take seven-eight weeks to recover from the injury,” Tamim said after returning from England.

Bangladesh will play three ODIs and two Test matches against Zimbabwe in October-November this year. Tamim needing seven-eight weeks for full recovery means the left-handed batsman will not be fit for ODIs. He may return for the second and final Test, that will start from November 11, but given his injury situation, he is unlikely to be fully match-fit for the five-dayer.
Tamim picked up the injury during their Asia Cup opener against Sri Lanka while playing a short-pitched delivery against seamer Suranga Lakmal.
