Ton-up Tamim as Bangladesh post 391/7 in warm-up

Update : 03 Mar 2017, 12:20 AM
Bangladesh posted 391 runs for seven wickets at stumps on day one of the two-day warm-up game against Sri Lanka Cricket President’s XI at De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa on Thursday. As far as batting is concerned, the performance should ease some pressure on Bangladesh. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal propelled the innings with 136 before retiring out. The century will come as a relief to the left-handed batsman, who struggled to score big in the recent past. In his 182-ball innings, Tamim slammed nine boundaries and seven sixes before walking back to the dressing room, making way for the other Bangladesh batsmen to experience the conditions. Batting at No 3, Mominul Haque also retired out after putting 73 on the board with 10 boundaries. Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim, who was relieved from wicket-keeping recently, was promoted to bat at No 4. A promotion in the batting order was being discussed for quite some time now. The right-handed batsman scored 21. Mahmudullah and Liton Kumar Das also got some runs as the duo scored 43 and unbeaten 57 respectively. Mahmudullah should draw some confidence from the innings, given that he has only scored one fifty in his last 10 Test innings. For the home side, right-arm pacer Chamika Karunaratne picked up three wickets, conceding 61 runs in 17 overs. With enough runs on the board, Bangladesh will be expected to declare their innings on Friday, thus allowing their bowlers to get some warm up under their belts ahead of the first of two Test matches, starting this Tuesday at Galle International Cricket Stadium.BRIEF SCOREBangladesh 391/7 in 90 overs (Tamim 136, Mominul 73, Liton 57*, Mahmudullah 43, Karunaratne 3/61)
