Unilever Bangladesh Limited has been announced as the new Bangladesh cricket team sponsor till January 2020. The BCB and the prominent consumer goods company inked the deal at the BCB corporate office at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Thursday.

The signing came within 11 days after telecom giant Robi Axiata Limited had terminated its contract with the BCB over dispute. The Bangladesh cricket team will be seen carrying Unilever logo on their jerseys, starting from the Asia Cup, set to begin in Dubai next Saturday. The deal will also see the Bangladesh women’s cricket team, Bangladesh A team and the Bangladesh U-19 team carry the Unilever logo.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury and Unilever Bangladesh’s finance director Zahidul Islam Malita were present during the signing of the deal.

“Unilever is an internationally renowned brand with a proven track record. On behalf of the BCB I thank Unilever Bangladesh for coming forward and taking the initiative to contribute to cricket. This ushers a fresh promise and opens a new door of long-term cooperation and relationship,” said Nizamuddin while welcoming Unilever’s association with Bangladesh cricket in a press release Thursday.

Unilever Bangladesh has successfully ventured into patronising sports in recent times. The multinational company was one of the sponsors of the Bangladesh Premier League T20’s Dhaka Dynamites franchise last year and had organised the Clear Men U-17 Football Tournament across the country.
