Former South Africa batsman Neil McKenzie has been appointed as Bangladesh team’s batting consultant. The BCB confirmed the appointment of McKenzie through a press release Friday afternoon.

McKenzie will take charge of the vacant post after Sri Lanka’s Thilan Samaraweera left last year. The 42-year old McKenzie will work with the Tigers right up to the end of the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales, according to the BCB.

Bangladesh are now touring the West Indies with the first of three ODIs taking place Sunday. The Tigers are aiming to bounce back after conceding a 2-0 defeat in the two-match Test series.

McKenzie is expected to join the Tigers in Guyana Tuesday, ahead of the second and penultimate ODI. McKenzie played 58 Tests, 64 ODIs and two T20Is for the Proteas. Following his retirement from international cricket in 2009, McKenzie twice performed his duty as South Africa’s batting consultant.
