Former Bangladesh assistant coach Mohammad Salauddin met BCB consultant Gary Kirsten Tuesday. Former South Africa cricketer Kirsten recently joined Bangladesh cricket as a short-term advisor and is on a three-day tour of Dhaka for an internal team audit. He has also been tasked with the responsibility of finding a full-time coach for Bangladesh.
Meeting Salauddin was part of Kirsten's audit. The South African on the first day of his work met senior cricketers in the shape of Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim Monday. It is understood that the cricketers suggested Kirsten to meet Salauddin, given that the South African is looking to include a local coach in the national team management.
"It was a pleasant experience meeting him but I don't think he was meeting me as a coach. He was more of an administrator during our meeting," said Salahuddin following his meeting with Kirsten in Dhaka Tuesday.
"He (Kirsten) had told me to come here (Tuesday). He asked about Bangladesh cricket, our cricketers and he also asked about me," he added.
Salauddin apart from working with the national team holds immense success in the domestic circuit. The former cricketer is also well known for personally guiding big name Bangladesh cricketers like Shakib al Hasan, Mominul Haque and Tamim.
The BCB last year offered Salahuddin the position of Bangladesh batting consultant only to later take back the offer. Meeting Kirsten was Salauddin's first involvement in senior cricketing matters in years.
