Former Bangladesh spinner Mohammad Rafique has been appointed as the bowling advisor of the BCB High Performance unit.

The former left-arm spinner has been appointed for the job for the second time.

Rafique had previously worked with the HP unit in 2016 in the same capacity.

Rafique after joining the BCB job Saturday informed the media that his work will begin in June following Ramadan.

“I have been ready for the coaching job for a long time now. The board told me to work with the HP unit after Ramadan. I will have to work as the board wants, let it be the national team, A side, U-19 team or HP squad. My work will be to find the best talents and sharpen them,” said Rafique at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

Rafique in his illustrious 13-year national team career played 33 Test matches, 125 ODIs and one T20I.

He is the first Bangladeshi to bag 100 wickets in both Tests and ODIs.

“Honestly we do not have quality spinners in the pipeline. I have achieved a lot playing for the country and now I think I should give something back. I hope to bring out some good bowlers from the HP unit,” said Rafique.
