Razzak continues to defy age as BCB names preliminary squad

The 35-year old Abdur Razzak might be in the wrong side of the 30s but the left-arm spinner continued to defy his age as he was named by the BCB in the 31-member preliminary squad for the tour of the West Indies later this year. Thanks to some brilliant performances in the domestic competitions, Razzak was called up to the Tigers squad but there was no place for the experienced Tushar Imran, who, like the former, has enjoyed a purple patch with the bat in recent times. All-rounder Nasir Hossain also missed out on a spot after tearing his ligament recently. There were call-ups for young spinner Nayeem Hasan, batsman Shadman Islam and seamer Yasin Arafat.

All-rounder Afif Hossain and Saifuddin though failed to make it to the squad. The Tigers will play two Test matches, three ODIs and as many T20Is against the Caribbean side. Prior to the Test series, Bangladesh will also play a two-day warm-up game. The 31 cricketers have been asked to report by the BCB Sunday at 8:45am. Under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayan, the national camp will begin the same day.
