Bangladesh to play T20I series against Afghanistan in June

Update : 18 Apr 2018, 11:40 PM
Bangladesh will play a T20I series against Afghanistan this June in Dehradun, India. BCB boss Nazmul Hasan informed that the board has decided Bangladesh will play a T20I series instead of ODIs against the Afghans. The final fixture of the series has not been decided yet but it is most likely that the T20Is will be played in June. “We have a commitment with Afghanistan about playing a series. We have decided to play the series and the format has been also finalised. We will play a T20I series against Afghanistan. Now, the matter of fact is, we want to play three T20Is whereas Afghanistan want to play four. So our cricket operations committee and other departments will look into the matter and decide the number of matches soon,” informed Nazmul to the media at the BCB office Wednesday.

There has been speculation that the BCB wanted to change the venue but the board chief informed that other venues are unavailable due to a busy fixture so the series is likely to be held in Dehradun. “Afghanistan wanted to play in Dehradun. We had considered other venues like Mumbai or Bengaluru. But the reality is all these alternative venues have been occupied due to various fixtures. So far it has been decided to play in Dehradun,” said Nazmul. Afghanistan recently qualified for the 50-over World Cup in dramatic fashion. They were on the verge of being eliminated from the tournament but eventually won the Qualifiers event by defeating West Indies in the final comprehensively.
