For Mominul, four-day tournaments such as the BCL and the National Cricket League are of the utmost importance. Despite his brilliant ability with the bat, Mominul has been tagged as a longer-version specialist and the two domestic four-day tournaments of the country are the only places for him where he can maintain his touch. “I think both the four-day tournaments – the national league and the BCL – are important for the national players. These tournaments are platform for us to prepare for the national team. I only play Test cricket for Bangladesh and that’s why tournaments like the BCL and the national league are of utter importance to me,” Mominul explained. Mominul this season in the BCL batted at No 3 and scored 382 runs in five innings at an average of 76.4. The in-form veteran South Zone batsman Tushar Imran is at the top of the highest run-scorers’ list with 558 runs in six innings, including four centuries and a fifty, followed by Liton Das at No 2. Liton in seven innings has scored 427 runs at an average of 65.99 with two centuries and as many half-centuries. When queried if he is harbouring any hope of rising to the summit of the list, Mominul said, “I don’t think of that honestly because whenever you are doing that, you will be playing for yourself, and not for the team. I used to think that way before but it was a wrong thing to do. I should rather try to play for the team and make the team champion, that way it also affects your personal performance. And whenever your team are champion, the top-scorers and wicket-takers’ lists are dominated by the champion team.” North Zone continue to lead the points table with 41 points, including one win, while East Zone are second with two points less. South Zone are third with 38 points while Central Zone are at the bottom with 29 points.
