Mushfiq registers fifth ton
Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim will be pivotal to his side ahead of the fifth and final day's play on Monday. While almost all the other Bangladesh batsmen failed with the bat, Mushfiq's timely partnerships with Shakib al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz laid the foundation for Bangladesh's first innings total. Although the Tigers were unable to surpass India’s first innings tally, Mushfiq earned a lot of praise for the hard work that he had put up to steer Bangladesh to a respectable total. His 127-run knock on Sunday was his second century in as many Tests. Interestingly, Mushfiq has scored his five centuries in as many different countries.Ashwin fastest to 250
India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the fastest bowler in the history of five-day cricket to reach 250 Test wickets in 45 matches. The offie needed only two more wickets before the ongoing one-off Test against Bangladesh. En route to reaching the milestone, Ashwin first dismissed Shakib for 82 and then Mushfiq for 127 in Bangladesh’s first innings. With 232 wickets, South Africa tearaway Dale Steyn was the previous bowler to take the most scalps in 45 Tests. No other bowler from India has taken even 200 wickets in the first 45 Tests before Ashwin, the world's number one ranked five-day bowler.
