BCB boss Nazmul assures support for Bangladesh volleyball

BCB president Nazmul Hasan said Sunday that they are willing to provide the salary if the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation ropes in a head coach in the near future. The BCB boss said this while attending the final of the Independence Day Volleyball Tournament between Power Development Board and Bangladesh Army in Dhaka. Bangladesh Army clinched the title, beating PDB by 3-2 sets. It should be mentioned that the BCB has agreed to pay the salary of Bangladesh's new hockey head coach, Malaysian Iman Gobinathan Krishnamurthy. "We are providing assistance to hockey for the new coach. We can also provide financial help to volleyball. But they must submit a budget. Once I get the budget, steps will be taken, whether it be the BCB or other sponsors," said Nazmul.

"I witnessed a volleyball game in the field after a long time. The youngsters produced a wonderful match. As far as I know, most of the youth of this country played football and volleyball in childhood. Actually, the importance of sponsors is second to none. "The future of Bangladesh volleyball is bright. I felt it after watching these youngsters," he added. The BCB chief continued, "Mahfuza Khatun Shila (swimmer) and Mabia Akter Shimanta (weightlifting) have won gold medals (in the 2016 South Asian Games in India). The football girls are also exhibiting tremendous performances. They are clinching one trophy after another. It proves that the women of this country are moving ahead in the sporting arena." Following the final, the BCB supremo handed over the prizes to the champion, runners-up and third-placed side - Bangladesh Navy. BVF president Atikul Islam and general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku were also present during the occasion.
