“We have principally agreed a series with Afghanistan but we still need to think more, bearing in mind the hectic schedule we have for both the national and A team. We will take some time before coming to a decision of the type of team we are looking to send,” said Akram to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Saturday. According to former Bangladesh captain Akram, the board is mulling resting the cricketers before they tour the West Indies, which will be followed by a grueling Bangladesh Premier League T20 season 2018 and home series against the Windies in November. “We have lots of cricket following the West Indies tour in July. We have BPL, followed by the home series’. At the same time the A team also have many engagements against Sri Lanka at home and the tour of Ireland. So we need to think first before coming to the decision of playing Afghanistan,” Akram explained.
