BCB is currently searching for a new head coach for the national team. Questions have been asked as to whether local coaches, including Bulbul, are being considered for the post. Regarding this, Akram said, “Experience is a big factor for becoming a national team coach. You will see, even Raul Dravid is coaching the U-19 team of India. I believe U-19 level is so much important, even sometimes more important than the national team. Because players can be nurtured and polished for international level. If we can give a good trainer and a coach in the U-19 level then we can find competitive players for the future. Now if Bulbul wants to work with BCB then we have a few options, like the U-19 team, Academy side, HP team. If he performs well in those levels for one or two years then we can consider him for the national head coach’s post." Earlier this month, Akram told a local news portal that since Bulbul is busy working in his capacity as the development manager of Asia, ICC, he could not accept the offers made by the BCB. In reply, Bulbul said he was never approached officially by cricket’s governing body in the country. Bulbul had worked in Asian Cricket Council’s development programme for eight years. Now he is the Level-3 coach educator for the ICC.
