India left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat said Bangladesh handled pressure extremely well while chasing down the massive target against host Sri Lanka in the Nidahas T20I tri-nation series Saturday in Colombo’s R Premadasa Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka, asked to bat first, posted 214 runs on the board, riding on half-centuries from Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis. The Bangladesh batsmen replied in a similar fashion, reaching their target losing five wickets with two balls to spare.
"It was a very good chase. To chase down 214 against any team by any team is a great feat in this format. They did very well to cope with the pressure built on them. I think they executed their plans, they expected what Sri Lanka's bowlers would do. The tournament is wide open and allows us to go and play freely out there. It also keeps us on our feet," said Unadkat to the media in Colombo Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers' win ensured the tri-series, being held to mark Sri Lanka's 70th Independence anniversary, will go right down to the wire as all three sides have one win each after two matches played.
India had come into the tournament without six of their key players, including Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya, and started off losing to Sri Lanka in the series opener last week. The side came back with a convincing six-wicket win against the Tigers.
Former World T20 champion India will face the Lankans for the second time in the series Monday at the R Premadasa, the lone venue of the tri-series.
