Chandimal: Best Mushfiq innings I have seen

Interim Sri Lanka T20I captain Dinesh Chandimal stated that wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim's unbeaten, match-winning innings against them was the best he has seen of the Bangladesh batsman. The Tigers recorded their first win in two matches in the Nidahas T20I tri-nation series after defeating host Sri Lanka by five wickets at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo Saturday. Riding on Mushfiq's unbeaten 72, Bangladesh registered their highest successful chase in the format chasing 215 runs. In the T20I circuit, the chase is the fourth highest successful and the highest on Sri Lanka soil by any team.

Mushfiq, who had come into the series scoring 60-odd in the lone practice match against a Sri Lanka Cricket President's XI side, was sensational in driving Bangladesh to the shore with his career-best T20I innings that came off 35 deliveries, featuring five boundaries and four over boundaries. "It was a really good knock. We all know that they have played some outstanding cricket in the recent past. But this was one of the best Mushfiq innings I have seen," said Chandimal following their defeat to Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh innings was set up with a record opening stand between Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das. The Tigers had 74 runs on the board when Liton got dismissed for 43 off 19. The stand is the Tigers' highest for the opening wicket and the second best Bangladesh score in the first powerplay. With the win, the tri-series, which also involves India has gone wide open. All of the three sides have won a game each after two matches played.
