Tamim: Please forget about Hathurusingha

Update : 11 Mar 2018, 02:34 AM
Bangladesh cricket circuit and its supporters have been fascinated with Chandika Hathurusingha ever since he exited from the job as Tigers head coach in November last year. A lot of talk started doing the rounds when the former Sri Lanka cricketer was announced head coach of his home team and the Lankans were set to tour Bangladesh in January this year. The media had regularly reported on how Bangladesh would react against Hathurusingha as opposition coach. As for the supporters, they waited for a "mythical revenge" on Hathurusingha, who was alleged of having ended his Bangladesh job over differences with the cricketers. There were also reports of him making life difficult for the cricketers who are darling to Bangladesh. The Bangladesh cricketers since Hathurusingha's departure faced abundance of questions regarding their former coach and Saturday, the Tigers' opening batsman Tamim Iqbal opined to bring an end to the story. Tamim, following their historic five-wicket win over Nidahas T20I tri-nation series host Sri Lanka, urged to forget the Hathurusingha chapter and said repeatedly talking about his relation with Bangladesh is being unfair on the team he is currently working with."Please forget about him. He has left. What more to talk about," said Tamim light-heartedly to the media following their victory at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium Saturday. "Hathurusingha has done a lot for us, especially in ODIs. He made a lot of contribution. I think it is unfair now to ask about him, since he is coaching another team. We have a different coaching staff now and they are working hard to make the team perform. It is best if we don't talk about it," the left-handed batsman said. Bangladesh with their win have turned around remarkably in the tri-series, also involving India. All the sides have won a game each in two matches.
