India dominate day one against Bangladesh

Update : 09 Feb 2017, 05:24 PM
Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 111 alongside Ajinkya Rahane, who was not out on 45. Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed picked up the only wicket to fall in the morning, that of opening batsman Lokesh Rahul, when he clean bowled the right-hander in the very first over. Cheteshwar Pujara was sent back by off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz for 83 with skipper and wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim taking the catch. Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam bagged the only other wicket to fall, cleaning up centurion Murali Vijay. Middle-order batsman Rahane returned for the hosts, ranked number one in the world in the format, at the expense of Karun Nair who could not hold onto his place despite his triple century in India's last Test against England. "Hyderabad has always been a very good batting wicket," Kohli said after the toss, refusing to be complacent against a team eight rungs lower in the Test rankings. "For us the opposition is not something we focus on, we focus on our skills and focus on executing our plans and be persistent with our skills." Bangladesh face a formidable job playing their maiden Test in India, currently in the middle of a brilliant home run. "Test cricket is all about keeping the momentum for five days, you can't really play three days of good cricket and give it up," said Bangladesh captain Mushfiq. "Hopefully the boys are fired up. All the guys are keen to show some skill."BRIEF SCOREIndia 356/3 in 90 overs (Kohli 111*, Vijay 108, Pujara 83, Rahane 45*, Taskin 1/58)  TeamsIndia: Murali Vijay, Lokesh Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (C), Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Ishant SharmaBangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah, Shakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (C & WK), Sabbir Rahman, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Kamrul Islam Rabbi
