Perfect ball dismisses ChandimalBangladesh included the experienced Abdur Razzak for the second and final Test match against visiting Sri Lanka. The Lankans opted to bat first and the veteran left-arm spinner made an immediate impact by picking up three wickets before lunch on day one. Particularly, Razzak’s delivery that cleaned up captain Dinesh Chandimal was a beauty. Sri Lanka just lost their third wicket, which brought Chandimal to the crease. It was a loopy, sliding length ball from Razzak in the trajectory of the leg-stump. Chandimal got forward and tried to play a forward defensive shot. But he missed the turn and the ball hit the off-stump. It was a perfect delivery for a new batsman and suddenly, Razzak was on a hat-trick.Razzak strikes after lunchThe experienced left-arm spinner did the trick for the Tigers once again just after lunch. Sri Lanka went in to lunch on 105 runs for the loss of four wickets. Kusal Mendis was batting on 65 and Roshen Silva was not out on four. After play resumed, Mendis immediately struck a boundary off a short ball, thus stating the intention of scoring quick runs. But in the very next ball, Razzak intervened with another superb delivery, taking the off-stump of Mendis. It was a length ball from Razzak yet again and Mendis fell for the trap. Mendis tried to defend it by moving forward and the ball skipped past the outside edge before crashing into the off-stump. And so, it was another crucial breakthrough for the Tigers as Sri Lanka lost a wicket in the very first over after lunch.Mominul’s horrific run outBangladesh felt pressure straightaway while replying to Sri Lanka’s first innings total of 222 as opener Tamim Iqbal was caught and bowled by Sri Lanka pacer Suranga Lakmal in the first over. Mominul came in to bat at No 3 and the team badly needed him to stabilise the situation as the left-hander struck centuries in both innings of the Chittagong Test. Mominul faced three balls in the middle but got run out in the end in horrible fashion. Imrul Kayes tried to take a single in the third ball of the second over. Mominul ran casually, Roshen threw the ball from mid off and wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella took off the bails quickly. Sri Lanka fielders were excited immediately and later TV replays showed Mominul did not place his bat although he did reach the crease. It was a horrible and casual approach from Mominul and Bangladesh lost their second wicket within nine balls for just four runs.
