Update : 28 Jan 2018, 09:49 PM
Veteran left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak was included in the Bangladesh squad Sunday for the first of two Test matches against Sri Lanka. The first Test between Sri Lanka and host Bangladesh is set to start Wednesday in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium. Razzak has returned to the national fold after almost four years. The 35-year old was officially named in the squad for the first Test when this report was filed. Razzak is the third member to join the Bangladesh Test team following injury to Test captain Shakib al Hasan.

Spinner Sanjamul Islam and all-rounder Tanbir Hayder were included in the squad Saturday after Shakib got ruled out from the first Test following a finger injury. The ace Bangladesh all-rounder injured his left little finger during Sri Lanka’s innings in the final of the tri-nation series at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Saturday. Shakib was immediately taken to hospital where he got stitches in the injured area. It is understood that a decision to officially include Razzak for the first Test came Sunday. Razzak has been in the limelight recently for emerging as the first Bangladeshi to bag 500 first-class wickets, in the second round of the sixth Bangladesh Cricket League earlier this month. Prime Bank South Zone’s Razzak reached the milestone in 113 matches after making his first-class debut in the 2001-02 season.
