“I believe, I have done nothing as of yet that I can feel relaxed as a player. What I have done good in the last two to three years, I always keep my process same. This is what I was looking for five to six years back. Finally I stuck to a fixed process whether I score runs or not. Yes, I have scored certain amount of runs in the last two to three years. But there is no chance of relaxation in international cricket,” Tamim said to the media during training at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Monday. “I am a big believer that, cricket is such a game that if you don’t give 100% then it will bite you. Good or bad form is a circle. Player has to go through that circle. Player will play well or be out of form. But when you have a good form, you have to maximise it and keep the process right,” he added. Tamim Iqbal, the man in form with the bat for Bangladesh in the last two to three years, informed that proper preparation and process are the reasons behind his regular run-scoring in the recent past and that he would stick to it in order to perform better.
The left-hander scored an unbeaten 84 in the first match of the tri-nation ODI series against Zimbabwe and made an identical 84 against Sri Lanka in the second game.
Tamim enjoyed a tremendous 2017 with the willow in ODIs, totalling 646 runs at a strike rate of 83.14 in 11 innings, including two centuries and twice as many half-centuries.
The southpaw continued from where he had left off last year, blasting twin fifties in his first two ODI outings in 2018. Tamim said there is no chance of relaxing as he believes the same process gave him success in the last few years.
