Mashrafe: Respect for Tushar, Razzak

Update : 19 Jan 2018, 04:56 AM
Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza expressed respect on behalf of the national team players towards Tushar Imran and Abdur Razzak, who joined the 10,000 first-class runs and 500 first-class wickets club respectively. “Obviously Tushar Imran and Abdur Razzak Raz are getting respect from the players. We talked about them just moments ago as Tushar crossed 10,000 first-class runs and Razzak took 500 first-class wickets. Obviously they are receiving respect from the national team players. Although they are getting old, they are whole-hearted cricketers with their clubs. The way they are showing their dedication to cricket, everybody should follow it,” Mashrafe said to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Thursday.

“A young and emerging player has a lot to learn from them. We often only follow Shakib [al Hasan], Tamim [Iqbal] or Mushfiqur [Rahim]. But a lot can be learned from players like Tushar and Razzak. Scoring 10,000 first-class runs or taking 500 first-class wickets are not a matter of joke. They had to play 17-18 years to achieve that feat. International cricket is not the only cricket. Maybe they have not been honoured officially, but we, the national team players, are giving them respect. The young players, who are playing first-class cricket now, should learn a lot from them,” Mashrafe added. Tushar crossed the 10,000-run milestone playing for Prime Bank South Zone this season Monday. He is the first Bangladeshi to cross the 10,000-run milestone in first-class cricket. Tushar has played 154 matches so far to achieve the landmark.
