Walton Central Zone trail by 35 runs after ending the third day on 234 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their second innings against BCB North Zone at Sylhet International Stadium Thursday. The Central Zone innings was boosted by top-order batsman Raqibul Hasan’s 105. His 152-ball innings included 17 boundaries. Pacers Subashish Roy and Ariful Haque and spinner Sohrawardi Shuvo picked up two wickets each for North Zone.
Earlier in the morning, North Zone resumed their first innings on 433 for seven wickets but were only able to stretch the total to 457. National discard Jahurul Islam, who scored 152 in the previous day, lasted for six more runs on day three before getting dismissed off the bowling of pacer Taskin Ahmed. Taskin, who recently got axed from the Bangladesh ODI squad, bagged four wickets for Central Zone.
Meanwhile in the other game of the day, foggy weather and bad light allowed only 41 overs of play on the day as Prime Bank South Zone trail by 228 runs replying to Islami Bank East Zone’s mammoth total. South Zone resumed the day on 128/3 and took the score to 318 for the cost of two wickets. Veteran batsman Tushar Imran and youngster Mosaddek Hossain both registered centuries on the day. Tushar scored 105 with 19 boundaries while Mosaddek added 110 to the tally.
