According to multiple sources, Sabbir was verbally abused by a spectator during the game, after which the batsman took permission from the on-field umpire to go out of the field. The national cricketer later brought the spectator into the field with help of the security personnel and assaulted the person after having a conversation behind the sight screen. During the same game, Sabbir exchanged heated words with a BCB ACSU official after the cricketer was confronted for making a phone call during the match. However, the incident did not gather pace, bearing in mind the BCB ACSU takes negligible measure in and around the PMOA (players and match officials area) during domestic tournaments like the NCL, Bangladesh Cricket League and Dhaka Premier League. With that said, during the Bangladesh Premier League T20, the BCB ACSU maintains standard similar to that of international cricket. Match official Showkat later faced the heat from Sabbir after the cricketer was made to attend a hearing following the game. The last time Sabbir faced the BCB disciplinary committee, he ended up being fined Tk 12 lakhs. The right-hander was found guilty of a “serious breach of discipline” after he entertained female guests in his room during BPL 2016.
