Veteran pacer Mashrafe is currently in Thailand for treatment of his daughter while Tamim is recovering from an allergic reaction and is on official leave till Monday. The national cricketers’ last assignment was in September-October this year during the tour of South Africa. During the past two months, the Tigers were engaged in a 45-day long BPL 2017, followed by a four-day game in the sixth and final round of the National Cricket League 2017. The camp, which will run till January 10 will initially concentrate on fitness of the cricketers before gradually shifting focus on skill. On the final day of the camp, the cricketers will engage in a match scenario session under artificial lights in Mirpur.

Though the BCB has not officially announced yet, the camp and the upcoming international engagements of the Bangladesh team will be under the supervision of Khaled Mahmud in the capacity of technical director. The vacant slot of the national head coach will be filled by Richard Halsall as the interim coach. Halsall is the current BCB High Performance coach. The other support staff of the team will remain the same. The Tigers will start the year with the tri-series. The series is scheduled to start on January 15 and all the matches will take place at SBNCS. This will be followed by the two-match Test and as many T20Is against the Lankans.
