“We are in discussion about the selection of new coach for Bangladesh team. There has been no decision as of yet. The BCB president (Nazmul Hasan) talked with a few persons. It has not been confirmed who will be the next coach,” said Jalal to the media Monday. Bangladesh are all set to start the year 2018 hosting a tri- series, followed by the two-match Test and T20I series against the Lankans. The national camp for the tri-series will start around December 27 after the sixth round of the National Cricket League.

“We don’t know if we can bring a new coach before December 27 (start of national camp). But we are trying. Actually we don’t want to hurry to select our next coach. We want to hire a coach for at least two years. So it is difficult to give the responsibility to someone in a hurry,” he added. Meanwhile, it was learnt that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are in the running to host the 2018 Asia Cup. The ACC following a meeting in October 2015 in Singapore had named India as the host for tournament next year. But this came into doubt due to uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s participation in the prevailing political climate between the two neighbours. And Jalal informed that discussion is in primary stage with regards to hosting the Asia Cup. “Discussion for becoming a host for the 2018 Asia Cup is still unofficial. We have not received any official offer yet. It’s still a primary discussion,” said Jalal.
