“Today I am here after overcoming lots of challenge. When I became the captain I had to build the team from scratch. It was a challenge for me. I am working as a coach for a long time and was the assistant coach in the national team as well. After observing coaching very closely I do not think that it is a very difficult task. Especially at this level. Motivation is very important. Planning has to be perfect. I do not know whether I will get the responsibility or not. If I do, I will try best to do well. I think I am ready for that,” Mahmud told the media Friday in Mirpur. “I have said earlier that we need local coach for the team. It requires time and lots of thought. We all want to see improvements in the team. People and fans also want the same. The board will think accordingly. I was there, [Mohammad] Salahaddin also worked for the team. We have to improve in every department, including communication. We have many local coaches who are skilled and confident. We need time to see what happens eventually, for now we hope Bangladesh will get a good coach so that the team can go ahead,” he said.
