Bangladesh A clinch one-day series

Bangladesh A sealed the five-match one-day series against Ireland A when they won the fourth and penultimate game by four wickets in Cox’s Bazar Wednesday. In a rain-curtailed affair at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, the visiting side were asked to bat first. The second-string Irish side posted 170 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs with captain Andrew Balbirnie yet again top-scoring for his side with a fine 51-ball 83, featuring seven fours and four sixes.Seamer Imran Ali picked up three wickets for Bangladesh A. In reply, Bangladesh A reached their destination with only two balls remaining, middle-order batsman Al Amin scoring the highest 40-ball 67, composed with eight boundaries and a couple of sixers. Skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto chipped in with a 26-ball 47, studded with four fours and three sixes.

Despite ending up on the losing side, Balbirnie was named the player of the match. The two teams will lock horn with each other in the fifth and final match of the series Thursday at the same venue. The host earlier won the second and third game by three wickets and eight wickets respectively with the first match ending in no result.
