Ireland A bundled out for 255 against Bangladesh A

Bangladesh A bowlers put in a disciplined effort as Ireland A were all out for 255 after day one of their solitary four-day match in Sylhet Wednesday. Batting first, the visiting side were dismissed in 74.5 overs with middle-order batsman Simi Singh top-scoring with a fine 159-ball 121, featuring as many as 19 fours and four sixes.

Lower-order batsman Andy McBrine chipped in with a useful 62-ball 57, including eight boundaries but none of the other batters crossed 20 in the face of some controlled bowling by the home side. Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan bagged three wickets while seamers Ebadat Hossain and Kamrul Islam Rabbi and leg-spinner Jubair Hossain picked up two each.

In reply, the host ended the day on 38/1 in 13 overs with opener Shadman Islam (22) and captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (15) the unbeaten batsmen at the crease. Bangladesh A trail the tourist by 217 runs ahead of the second day’s play Thursday.
