No 3 batsman Mominul Haque also got out cheaply for 11 when he tried to clear the boundary rope only to get caught at the fence by spinner Keshav Maharaj off a short Kagiso Rabada delivery. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim did put up some fight with opener Imrul Kayes for the third wicket, forming a 34-run partnership. A nervy moment came when Mushfiq was struck by a bouncer from pacer Duanne Olivier in the 14th over. The right-handed batsman looked in pain immediately after the blow. But he eventually got up after getting some medical attention from both the teams’ physios and continued batting. Imrul’s poor run of form continued as once again he got set before being dismissed for 32 in the 16th over.Bangladesh lost by an innings and 254 runs in the second Test against South Africa. #SAvBAN pic.twitter.com/uFUoQ1xiyC

Then Bangladesh lost the key wicket of Mushfiq just before lunch when he offered no shot against a straight delivery from pace bowler Wayne Parnell only to get trapped in front. Bangladesh reviewed the decision but TV replays showed that the ball would have hit the off-stump. Mahmudullah was the top-scorer for the Tigers in the second innings with his 43-run knock, including seven boundaries and one six. But he got dismissed off the bowling of paceman Rabada as Dean Elgar took a brilliant catch at gully..@KagisoRabada25 you BEAST! Watch: Game on- Bangladesh lose Test series to South Africa
Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Kumar Das (18) and No 7 batsman Sabbir Rahman (four) also got out in quick succession and by then, defeat was only a matter of time for Bangladesh. Eventually they were dismissed for 172 and it was well and truly a horrible batting display from Bangladesh as on the same pitch, four South Africa batsmen scored centuries – Markram, opener Elgar, No 3 batsman Hashim Amla and captain Faf du Plessis.
Rabada picked up his second five-wicket haul of the match and ended the game with a 10-wicket haul, overall conceding just 66 runs. Rabada was adjudged man-of-the-match while Elgar was named man-of-the-series for his 330 runs in three innings, including two centuries.BRIEF SCORESouth Africa 573/4d beat Bangladesh 147 & 172 (f/o) in 42.4 overs (Mahmudullah 43, Rabada 5/30) by an innings and 254 runsCongratulations Man of the Series @deanelgar! #ProteaFire #SAvBAN pic.twitter.com/XsInJLRZNx
