Mushfiq: Not impossible to beat South Africa at their home

Update : 30 Sep 2017, 08:45 AM
Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim believes they have the quality to compete against South Africa at their home. The Tigers were confident before the Australia series that they could whitewash Australia, They eventually won the first Test match in Mirpur but lost the second in Chittagong. Bangladesh have improved their record in the last two years and are more confident with their body language and approach ahead of a tough away series against the Proteas.

“I think, we have given some big examples that we can play Test cricket well. Some people might say after coming to South Africa and thinking about defeating them is impossible for Bangladesh. But honestly, I don’t think that way. If we play our best cricket and play according to our potential, then we can beat any team in the world anywhere," Mushfiq told the media at Senwes Park Wednesday. “Before beating England and Australia in Tests at our home, we never won against them. Before these wins in the last two years, people never thought we could beat them at home. But we played well and beat them in Tests. Similarly, I believe we have the confidence that we can beat South Africa here. If luck is with us and we play our best cricket then I think it will be a great Test match,” he said.
