Mushfiq: We showed Bangladesh can be aggressive on field as well

Update : 30 Aug 2017, 04:54 PM
Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim believes their historic Test match win against Australia sends out a message to the opponent that the Tigers can do well in pressure situations and play aggressive cricket in order to achieve victory. Mushfiq said Australia are under pressure now and that Bangladesh will try to whitewash the visiting side by winning the Chittagong Test, which starts at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Monday. “They had aggression but we also showed that Bangladesh can be an aggressive side. They saw it in our body language, apart from how we did with the bat and ball. If you noticed towards the end of the first session (before lunch), [Glenn] Maxwell tried to ensure that there was no more overs by taking up five or six minutes. The Australian team were on the backfoot, trying not to play an over. I thought it is a huge message,” Mushfiq told the media in the post-match press conference in Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. “Even they talked to our tail-enders, to our junior players. They know that an extra run here or there could be  crucial. But we also returned them the favour. They found out that we are no longer the Bangladesh of old, that we now have the players who can change the course of a match from any position. “But we should be careful of not becoming too complacent. It is hard to get the Australian team under pressure so we must take the opportunity to win the series,” he said.
