Rain-hit BCL marred once again

Update : 21 Jan 2016, 06:36 PM

Rain interruption, foggy weather and wet outfield have spoiled the enthusiasm of the round two matches in the fourth edition of the Bangladesh Cricket League longer-version. Persistent rain had cancelled the entire second day’s proceedings while yesterday, the foul weather allowed only some portion of play.

East Zone v North Zone, Bogra

The overcast weather forced a delayed start to the day and allowed only 26 overs of play. A struggling East Zone resumed their first innings on 203 for eight but were only able to add 11 runs to the board before being dismissed.

Later, North Zone made a shaky start, losing opening batsman Mahmudul Hasan for nought and the struggle continued as the side posted only 59 for the loss of three wickets at stumps, facing 19 overs. East paceman Abul Hasan picked up two wickets while North opener Junaid Siddique remained unbeaten on 28.

Central Zone v South Zone, Rajshahi

Central Zone registered 381 before losing all of their wickets as only 64 overs of play was possible during the third day. Sharifullah’s 91 and Shahidul Islam’s unbeaten 32 propelled Central to their first-innings tally.

Veteran spinner Abdur Razzak led from the front for South Zone with five scalps. Later, South batted 28 overs and lost three wickets scoring 81 runs. Tushar Imran’s 33 was the highlight of the innings.
