Bangladesh Under-19 boys are keen to register a comprehensive result in the three-match youth one-day series against West Indies starting today. The home side’s skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz wants his side to win all games and enter the World Cup later this month in full momentum.
“Our aim is to win every game of the three-match series and we want to gain the confidence before the World Cup. It’s a very important series for us as it’s our last opportunity to prepare for the mega event and we would also like to correct our mistakes from this series,” said Mehedi.
Mehedi, who is among the five players in the team to have played in the previous World Cup in 2014, said it will be their batting and fast bowling that will have a greater impact on the field. The batting-allorunder is also one of the four off-break bowlers in the side and they are looking to exploit that advantage over the left-handers in the opposition squad.
The Caribbean cricketers will be more focused on adapting to the conditions as they have plenty of time in hand to cope with the environment before the start of the tournament proper. They have only retained Shimron Hetmyer from the previous World Cup as the new set of cricketers are eager to support him in their cause.
The teams will travel to Chittagong for the second and third game to be played this Thursday and Saturday respectively at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium.
