Update : 28 Dec 2015, 06:41 PM

A three-member International Cricket Council delegation, along with some Australian board officials, arrived in Dhaka yesterday to assess the security situation ahead of the upcoming 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup.

Although most of the participating teams have already announced their squads, Cricket Australia is yet to declare its junior team. The Australian senior side earlier saw their tour of Bangladesh postponed due to security reasons.

“The ICC U-19 World Cup will take place in January-February and the ICC team has visited the venues of the tournament. They (security team) held a meeting with the law enforcement officials and will further assess the security arrangements on-field,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.

“Our main aim is to host a successful tournament and we are going to provide the maximum security. The CEO (David Richardson) of the ICC earlier paid a visit and was assured by top government officials about the type of security measures in place for the U-19 WC,” he added.
