Rangpur spinners humiliate Sylhet

Update : 07 Dec 2015, 07:15 PM

Shakib al Hasan, Arafat Sunny and Mohammad Nabi wreaked havoc at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday evening as Rangpur Riders humiliated Sylhet Super Stars by bowling the latter out for only 59, the second lowest BPL total ever, and reaching the target with eight wickets in hand.

The disgraceful batting performance from the Super Stars came a day after they bowled out Barisal Bulls for the lowest ever total of 58. The careless unit displayed rash strokes right from the beginning as wickets tumbled from the first over bowled by Arafat Sunny.

When Sunny celebrated the wicket of Nazmul Hossain Milon, it was his fourth in the match. Sylhet were tottering at 30 for six and well out of the game. Just six balls before, Shahid Afridi was stumped after coming down the track to Shakib.

Afghanistan off-spinner Nabi cleaned up the tail including Sylhet’s top-scorer Sohail Tanvir (20) to put an end to the innings in 11.5 overs.

In pursuit of the target, Rangpur had two casualties – Lendl Simmons (five) and Soumya Sarkar (11) – but reached the destination in 9.5 overs with Shakib and Jahurul Islam in the middle on 29 and nine respectively.
