The third edition of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 might have resumed after a two-year hiatus but the cash-rich tournament is still a topic of hot interest among the gamblers and bookies.
And according to the tournament officials, they have caught four foreign gamblers so far in the third edition of the money-spinning competition.
The four gamblers were seen making suspicious movements at both the Dhaka and Chittagong venues before being eventually thrown out by the tournament officials.
Questions however, have been raised over the treatment of the BPL tournament officials towards the gamblers and punters but governing council member secretary Ismail Haider Mallick informed the media that they had nothing else to do apart from throwing them out of the venue.
“They are known as gamblers and we do not have the law to put them behind bars so we decided to throw them away from the stadium premises,” said Mallick.
Whatever the law suggests, the BPL governing council will have to be more careful in the near future so as not to repeat the bitter mistakes and experiences of the past.
