Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team clinched the four-match youth ODI series against their Zimbabwean counterparts following a seven-wicket win in the third game at Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium yesterday. In the process, the hosts took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
Taking first guard, the visitors struggled right from the start of their innings and were eventually bundled out for just 84 runs in 40.5 overs. Left-arm spinner Ariful Islam Jony bagged four wickets conceding only 18 runs while Sanjit Saha picked up two for the home side.
Jeremy Ives top-scored with 22 for the tourists.
In reply, the junior Tigers faced no problems whatsoever overhauling the target as they romped home with seven wickets and 34.1 overs to spare. Zakir Hossain scored the highest 27 while Nazmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 22.
The two teams will lock horns in the fourth and final match of the youth ODI series at the same venue tomorrow.
